Like a Little Child…

“I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Luke 18:17
But how can a little child, even an infant, enter the kingdom of God? The answer to that question is exactly the same as the answer to the same question about an adult: by grace. Sin is the human condition since Adam and Eve’s fall into sin. We were born in that sinful condition and needing a solution for that condition.

A little child receives the kingdom by grace through the Gospel in Word and Sacrament (baptism). It is purely by the grace of God. No child can earn or contribute something to enter the kingdom. The Holy Spirit carries children into the kingdom through the miracle that is baptism. Through that Word and sacrament, the Holy Spirit carries a child’s (or an adult’s) heart from unbelief to trust in Jesus Christ.

Praise be to God for his grace in calling us into the kingdom. Continue to hear His call to repentance and trust Jesus for forgiveness of sins. We can only enter God’s eternal kingdom just like a little child – by grace.

Thanksgiving Hot Lunch

This month’s hot lunch will be held on November 21 and will have a Thanksgiving theme. Instead of having a paid lunch, we are asking the children to bring canned goods and other non-perishable items that we pass on to the Food Bank or Beans Café. We will also ask for donations for the lunch itself. Parents and other relatives of the children are encouraged to join us for this lunch. If you would like to signup or donate please visit our signup or donate page.

Parents' Night Out

We are planning a parents’ Night Out for November 23 from 4:00 until 7:00pm. This is an evening (late afternoon?) where you parents are welcome to drop your children here at school and go off and spend a few hours of quality time without the little ones. You may do some early Christmas shopping or have a quiet dinner (date night?). We are planning to do some baking with the children along with other projects.

Library Trip

The 5th through 8th graders will be making a trip to the library this Friday. The books are due on Thursday this week. Mr. Z will be dropping books off on Thursday for those students who need them dropped off to avoid any late fines. The class will also be going for lunch on Friday.
